Sorry for the lack of posting! I have been busy with school work; though half of the time I am not listening in class ( long story ) Anyways, if you didn’t follow my instagram, I knitted a scarf with knit and purl stitches and end the ends with fringes. It took me about a month plus as I didn’t commit to it everyday and as I started out, it was tough for me. I was having a hard time to get the tension right.

The scarf isn’t perfect but I am happy with the result! I am starting on another knitting project! Hope I can get it right! I promise I will try to post regularly!

Dsquared² Spring 2015 Menswear : Pop the colour baby.

Firstly, I apologize for the lack of posts as I am currently studying fashion design in Ta.ftc, located in Singapore. It is the cheapest and shortest course I could get in and I am squeezing in tons of knowledge into my mini brain. It is really tough but it is all worth the while. Cut to the chase and talk about the Spring 2015 Menswear collection. I have been looking at quite a few collection and I particularly like Dsquared² due to the vibrant funky colour tone they put up and also, the sleek and casual style.

Dean and Dan Caten named this collection Stud2io. It was their interpretation  of Andy Warhol’s factory. The colour tone resembles the pop art of Warhol’s painting. Warhol was the king of pop. He lit up an image with vibrant colours. I love the concept of it. It is Spring for godsake, lit up your Spring with colours.

I am in love with their camou coats. I love coats. I love seeing men in coats. The Catens went wild and went all out with a pink speedo coming from the runway. They have dedicated their love towards the beauty of a male body. Kudos to their beautiful runway show.

Loafers Craze

Recently, I am crazy about loafers. I do fancy loafers from start but recently, it is an addiction to loafers. Everywhere I shop, I look for loafers. I just want a pair of loafers. Okay, maybe not just one but two or three or even ten. How can anyone say no to loafers? It looks comfortable, fashionable and chic. It is a pair of shoe that can glam an day look. I am in love with Celine’s Loafers! It is to die for.

Black and White

Tartan Prints

Gold & Black Patent

I am a big fan of Celine’s Loafers as it has this masculine touch to it but yet, it is feminine and chic. The loafers can just fit my everyday wear. I can totally pair up with boyfriend’s jeans and white tee with Celine’s Loafers and I will look chic. The loafers are amazing. Everyone should have a pair of Celine’s loafers. People, it is a Need.

Chanel Fall 2014/15 : Grocery Shopping in Chanel’s Mall

The setting was about shopping Chanel’s Megastore. It felt like a candy land; a piece of conceptual artwork! I wish I could shop at Chanel’s Megastore with Rihanna and Cara and Joan! For this collection, it is all about the sneakers. I am in love with Chanel’s sneakers! How can anyone say no? Karl had to continue from the previous collection. Those sneakers are hard to forget. The trench coat were calling out Chanel. Karl was heading for a sporty look when Cara opened the show with raggy workout-wear. However, there was chicness to the outfits. There were variation of silhouette going on. It was somewhat comforting and yet, classy as there were oversized onesis and trench coat. The fabric which was commonly seen is metallic, velvet  and more metallic!

Even the shopping basket is so chic. It is like a fashion shopping megastore. I will totally dress up as Chanel and be in there! I totally love what Karl has done to Chanel’s bag. It did play a part in a megastore but yet, it look so elegant. Karl just make grocery shopping looks fashionable.

This is my favourite part of the show. The sneakers! If only I can have the knee cut sneakers! It is something I would wear on my causal basis.  Furthermore, I love how the sneaker played with materials of knitting and holograph. I just want to have one! Brilliant.

OSCARS : THE YEAH’S AND THE BOO’S

Well, I am finally back at blogging again! Be sure to catch me here often with all these Fall Runways going on. Been catching up and looking at runways by the brilliant designers! Before we get into the Fall Runway, let’s go to the OSCARS Red Carpet! I mean how can you not be prepared for this! Though Jennifer Lawrence fell within minutes on the Red Carpet. Well, she is the only celebrity that fall and laughed it off anyways! Well, let’s get straight to the point and judge the Best Dressed and Worst Dressed in this year’s Oscars!

THE BEST DRESSED LIST

Cate Blanchett, Oscars

Cate Blanchett in Giorgio Armani

I am not a big fan of sparkles and sequins on Red Carpet but this dress just work. Brilliant design. The details were brilliantly done. It wasn’t heavy in details. It is constant with those sequins and beads which worked very well to make it as a Red Carpet Dress. With the light material, the dress was glowing and dreamy. Plus points will be her hair, her make up and her accessories. Everything just came into the place. I really love the classy hair updo with this dress. Gorgeous!

Lupita Nyong in Prada

Congrats to her in winning her first Oscars! She has caught my attention for quite some time. I love the colours she always wear for Red Carpets or for some events. She looked stunning! This dress was simple. Pleating and the low-V just work for her. In addition, the pastel blue suits her. Elegant piece of work!

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture

J.L is the girl that falls during Oscars! I love this dress on her! It shows off her curves. Her body looked flattening here. With her backward necklace, the whole look works. This tomato red looks great on her. She looks fierce and strong!

Angeline Jolie in Elie Saab Haute Couture

Brad Pitt looked hot as always! But the focus here is Jolie. She looked absolutely stunning. I am glad she drop the black look and go for other shades of colour. From what I can remember from Jolie is she always love to wear black.Well, I admit that black is a hard colour to say no to. But this Elie Saab’s dress looks classy on her! Beautiful!

Amy Adams in Gucci

The silhouette of this dress fits Amy Adams perfectly! I love the blue tone on her. Though, I wish she could wore a light jewelry on her neck to complete the look. Probably a necklace that suits the earrings as well. I guess it will turn up a notch!

Anne Hathaway in Gucci

Well, the fashion police said Anne was wearing an amour in front of her and named it the worst dress but to me, it was one of the best dressed. Yes, I do agree there is alot going on but the dress’s silhouette was simple and she toned down in her accessories. It was all about the dress! I adore this dress on her! She pulls it off!

Emma Watson in Vera Wang

I love her look! The dress’s metallic material and playing with shades of black looks chic and sexy! This Wang dress suits her very well! I love the cut of the dress at the end. Well-executed!

Olivia Wilde in Valentino

Among all the pregnant ladies, Olivia Wilde dressed the best that day! It was simple, neat and clean. I love the turtle neck and the colour of black and white going on. The dress looks good on her with the bump there! Mother-to-be looking good!

THE WORST DRESSED LIST

Idina Menzel in Vera Wang

I love Vera Wang but this dress didn’t felt right for a Red Carpet. The drapes were overwhelming plus the dress colour was not an appealing colour. In addition, the material of the dress looks stiff and heavy. That’s why the look didn’t come off very well. Maybe if the lower part of the body did not have the drapes and goes for a simple flow from the upper body to the lower body, I guess it will look better. The upper part of the dress looks amazing by itself!

Elsa Pataky

I don’t know who is the designer behind her dress but I don’t love the silhouette going on. I think she is a gorgeous woman but this dress plus her bump does not look good at all. Her bump is huge and this dress is just enhancing the bump on her. It did not look pleasant. The low cut and the waist line do not complement each other. I feel that if the waist line marking is not there and it just flow, it will look better as her dress has a lot of details going on.

Sally Hawkins in Valentino

It is the hair. If the hair was done up and style nicely, I think this look might work. Right now, this whole look have too many things going on. The dress is gorgeous! I love Valentino’s dresses but her heavy huge curls just make her appearance looked like there is so many things going on. She got to do it up! Maybe it will make a difference!

Anna Kendrick in J. Mendel

I think this is the worst dressed? Well, there was so many things going on : the back of the dress, the show off my leg look, the front of the dress, the red stones on the front of the dress, the pleating. There is way too many things. She is a gorgeous woman but this dress is not the Red Carpet dress. Honestly, I can’t look at it for long. It is just all over the place. It is just too much!

Penelope Cruz In Giambattista Valli

Firstly, I love the colour and I love Giambattista Valli’s clothes!  However, it is just there is so much cloth going on and it just reminded me of a Sari. Drapes and Drapes and more Drapes. And she is holding extra cloth around her arm. If those excess cloth can be removed, maybe it will look better!

Well, I come to the end of the Red Carpet Discussion! Well, leave a comment if you like! Thanks for reading!

Elie Saab Spring 2014 Haute Couture : Dreamy

Elie Saab is one designer that made me look forward to see his collection for every runway. What I really like about him is his detailing and technical work. You can see my post on my top 10 favourite designer.

Silver Favourites, 1903, oil on wood

This collection is brilliantly executed. He seemed to be inspired by the nineteenth-century Dutch artist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema painted scenes from the Roman Empire. His subjects always seemed to be reclining amid marble statuary, and there was a good chance that the Mediterranean Sea was shimmering in the background. His artwork has a sense of dreamy and romantic element to it. This is reflected on Elie Saab’s Haute Couture Collection.

Elie lifted the pastel colour elements from Alma-Tadema painting; blush pink, hydrangea blue, and lilac. He used the simple cuts of a classical dress of empire waist and the gently draped volumes. It was feminine and light. It had this red carpet touch. He also extracted the Roman Clothing Silhouette like Stola and Polla; playing with the factor of pleating. His signature embroideries and appliqués were a handful of gossamer-light pleated goddess gowns.

I love how he make sheer seem so elegant. The runway brought us into the world of Roman Empire in Spring. Every girl would want to have a Elie Saab’s dress. It is great to see him moving from his monochromatic comfort zone by boasting fluid skirt with an ombre of violet, citrine, vivid blue, and coral, like an Alma-Tadema sky.

He ended his collection with a Haute Couture Bride Gown. Spectacular

SS Collection 2013/2014 Céline : Vibrant, Graffiti, Céline

Céline, to me, is known to playing with simple cuts with crazy simple oversize scandals and amazing clutch. I love the simplicity that I can see in Céline. As I was looking into the Spring Summer Collection, Céline came up with something different from what I expected. Phoebe Philo is playing with graffiti, block of colors; vibrant bright & simple. Her inspiration were from medium of Brassaï’s photographs. The feeling she portray through this collection were strong and bold. I love the way she played with the calligraphy brush strokes and infused it into the fabric. It doesn’t look like it is all over the place, it feels quite settled. Furthermore, the strokes were in somewhat organic form which it is simple. The colors she used gave a feel of the 80s which feel of something primary, urgent and graphic.

As usual, Phoebe loves to experiment with the cuts of fabric. Her clothes had this three-dimension touch. Woven jacquards and knits dominated over prints and were beautifully done.

As usual, how can I not love the bags? Firsty, I really love the organic shaped bags! Simple and vibrant. With the mixture of fabric ( inner and outer ) and the touch of that gold coated handle, it looks outstanding. She was also playing with laser cuts; adding crafts technique to the bags which is somewhat refreshing.

Her shoes are too die for! I love the simple design of the ankle heel shoes with a twist in terms of the heel tip and the platform. I want that pair of heels! Simple and comfortable; it speaks Céline.

New found love : White Shirt

Who doesn’t love white? I know everyone has one white shirt or top in their wardrobe. I have this current obsession with white shirt. I have been looking for a white top; not exactly a T-Shirt or crop top but something classy and simple. I have been shopping yesterday and honestly, I didn’t find any nice white shirt in anywhere except ZARA. I love Zara formal wears. The cuts, the colours, the choice of fabric. Well, I won’t say it is 100 percent perfection but when I want something clean, chic and classy, I will look for Zara. They have a few variety of white shirt in Zara.

Image 1 of HIGH COLLAR STUDIO TOP from Zara

High Collar Studio Top

I love the way the cut of this top. The high collar, the long sleeve and the crop size. It feel comfortable and relax with the wide end sleeves. Something that I will feel comfortable and also, rocking it! With the simple design, it can match with simple skirt or pants. For skirt, I was thinking of checkered pencil skirt or trumpet skirt; something midi. For the pants, something bold and bright; mustard, maroon, camel or cream colour.

Image 3 of POPLIN SHIRT from Zara

Poplin Shirt

This shirt is just a simple cut shirt for formal wear and you can wear with different bottoms which will make the outfit look formal and clean. I couldn’t find the crop shirt white top I seen in Zara yesterday but I saw this yesterday and I do like the texture of material.

I am in need of a white shirt. Desperate. I can never get enough of clothes. It is like a disease but a good one!  Time to splurge on my new found love! Shall head back and buy that white shirt I want!

Trench Coat Lovers

Let’s toast to Trench Coat Lovers! If you are living in a country that has 4 seasons, lucky you! It is upsetting to be in living in a country that only has the sun and the rain. I love Singapore don’t get me wrong but I just wish it has 4 seasons. My wardrobe will be filled with different clothes for different seasons! I am a big fan of winter collection; the knitwear, the coats, the high-kneed boots, the scarfs and the beanie. How can someone not love them? But, it is just my imagination. I can’t possibly but all those as I know I won’t used them in Singapore. Well, no one said you can’t dream! Since we are entering the winter season, Trench Coat is a must to have.

Trench Coat has been for ages and designers are re-creating it, taking it to a whole new level. Making it simple or going more edgy with the shoulders. I mean there are so many ways to re-design Trench Coat. It is endless. Now, Trench Coat are coming in different colors and length. The two colors I love most are : Red and Black.

Red Trench Coat can bring your style to a new glam look. It is bold and daring color. Black is a color that is tone down and more settled which is suitable to fit any colors.  The thing about trench coat is don’t ever wear a dress that is over the length of your trench coat. It will look weird and there will be too much going on. Pair up with a dress that are above the trench coat length or wear with a pair of leggings or skinny jeans. Ultimately is what matters is the trench coat design.

People like me, living in a country that only has the sunny and rainy weather, buy blazers as a replacement of trench coat. Well, it is the closest thing we can have. Cheers to the invention of trench coat!

Alberta Ferretti S2014RTW : Joyful Clothes

I started noticing Alberta Ferretti since last year when a tumblr I followed reblogged one of her runway. She known to be the queen of dreams as most of her garments are dreamy, fantasy and romantic.  And this time, she sidelined her signature dreaminess to something more dynamic. ” Positive energy, the joy of living, “  that is what she emphasized about her concept behind this collection. The models walked in pure white, pared down with ribbons and mulit-colored embroidery. She was inspired by the land of sun, sea and color in South Africa. And every piece of garment walk down that runway looked flawless. It was like seeing angels walking down the runway in the white silhouette with a touch of vibrant colors of life.

Alberta

There were a variety of collars and sleeves being used, mainly scoop, jewel and deep V necklines. Those garment had a sense of innocence beauty in them. In addition, she was playing the linear line works in silk and with that glossy smooth surface, the colors were hyped up to another level; the way she used the silk, adding with a variety of color, even black seems surprisingly colorful. It is not just the garment you have to look out for, it is the ballet shoes, embroidered with floral prints. I could not keep my eyes of that shoes as they were gorgeous! With the silk material used as ribbons, together with the vibrant joyful color, it was feminine and simple.

The craftsmanship was excellent as every piece of garment were impeccable. There were tiered skirts, the shirtwaister, the little cropped lines. I really like it when she introduced laces and sheer for the black garments and dresses she designed. The overlap of layers were nicely done. Her dresses were elegant and the way the dress moves were like river flowing; smooth and peaceful. The limelight of the show was that elegant bright orange dress that flow down the runway. It was spectacular. It just make you go blind as soon as the model appeared on the catwalk. Bravo!

It will be every girl’s dream to have a piece of that beautiful dress from this collection! This line will make every girl feel like a queen!
